Council Member Shahana Hanif is too extreme to represent us on the New York City Council. From out-of-touch positions on key issues such as policing, to opposing efforts to combat anti-Semitism, she has shown us that she is unfit for office.

WRONG ON ANTI-SEMITISM
With anti-Semitism, hate crimes and violent attacks on Jews on the rise, the City Council decided to show solidarity with the Jewish community in a resolution recognizing April 29 as End Jew Hatred Day.
Despite this being as easy a choice as it gets for a politician Shahana Hanif VOTED NO to recognize End Jew Hatred Day.
She was just ONE OF TWO of all 51 Council Members to vote NO on this resolution.
When a CUNY Law graduate used her commencement speech to spew antisemitic remarks, Shahana Hanif told New Yorkers “…we must support her.”

Shahana Hanif has failed us.
WRONG ON PUBLIC SAFETY
Shahana Hanif's main priority on the Council is defunding the NYPD, even as crime has increased, gun violence is out of control, and our streets are less safe than they used to be.
Her lack of action on addressing crime is astounding, and has direct negative consequences for the safety of our families and the people living in Brooklyn.
Our safety should be put above her out-of-touch politics.
